Shirley Christine Atwood

Shirley Christine Atwood, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend of McDonough, GA formerly of Columbus, OH went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2014 at Emory University Hospice in Atlanta, GA at the age of 81. Shirley was born on July 30, 1932 in Jonesville, VA to the late Kelsey and Carrie Terry and married Johnny Dennis Atwood (deceased) on May 23, 1952. She was also preceded in death by brothers Hagan, Leslie and Conn and sisters, Juanita, Mary Jane, Erma, Helen and Marie. Shirley is survived by brothers RC (Ann), Dick (Alpean) and Joe (Faye); sister Nadine; daughters Pam (Steve) Herron, Donna (Fred) Swenson, Vicky Atwood, and Janet (Dale) Youmans; grandchildren Steven (Lisa) Herron, Crista (Michael) Tidwell, Jessica (Jonathan) Gordon, Steven (Christine) Swenson, Stephanie Swenson, Cliff Swenson, Jaret Youmans, Seth Youmans, and Owen Youmans and 15 great grandchildren. Shirley retired from RG Barry where she worked as a seamstress. Family will welcome friends from 2-5pm Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 where services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10am; interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
