Shirley Mae Worthington

Shirley (Drone) Worthington, 81, of Columbus Ohio went to be with our Lord on August 24th, 2016. She was with family and did not linger. Born, Shirley Mae Stewart, she was raised in Ashland Kentucky and loved the hills and the friendly people. She would tell you her greatest joy was whenever her kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and the neighborhood kids were under foot, and she was able to play with them on the floor. She was a friend to everyone she met and a mother to the neighborhood kids. Shirley taught her family to be there for each other, to persevere, and enjoy life. She loved to laugh, travel, dance, garden, cook, bake, and sew for her family. Shirley loved all of God's little creatures, those with fur and feathers especially. She loved everyone unconditionally, just like her beloved pets loved her. She created a nurturing home for her family and then worked as a bill collections correspondent; the people who were blessed enough to receive her business call were truly helped by her and listened to with a caring heart. She was preceded in passing by her loving father, William Stewart, and her sweet mother, Bertha (Humphrey). Her beloved grandmother, Lucy Bell (Humphrey); her husband of her youth, Franklin Drone; sweet grandson, Dustin Tyler Drone; and close sister-in-law, Lou Stewart also preceded her in passing. She is survived by her brother, Bill Stewart; former spouse and father to her family, Bob Worthington; devoted and loving children: daughter, Roxanne Finley and Bryan; son, Darrell Drone and Mel; daughter, Robin Heiks and Heidi; daughter-in-law, Debbie Drone; son-in-law, Dale Mirise; beloved grandchildren: Angela and Joseph Waters, Darrell and Amy Drone, Jamie and Steve Sigman, Emily and Jon Newsome, Mike and Rachel Drone, Matthew Finley, Curt and Kate Mirise; precious great grandchildren: Wyatt and Nathan, Mackenzie and Trevor, Tori, Jackson Tyler (and Jonathan arriving soon); nieces and nephews; friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, August 29th, 2016, at Life in Christ Fellowship: 500 NE Plain City-Georgesville Rd, West Jefferson, Ohio 43162. Pastor Isaac Shupe will be ministering, and all are invited to attend. Shirley loved flowers and animals; her memory may be honored by sending flowers, or making a donation to a local animal shelter.
