Shirley J. Klopfer-Young age 80 of Columbus Ohio passed away Friday October 9, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 17, 1935 in Columbus to the late Orville and Lucille Klopfer. She is survived by William “Bill” Young, her loving husband of 60 years, daughter Cindy Smith, grand-daughter Valerie Bachus, numerous extended family members, close friends, and her beloved cats.
Shirley was a 1953 graduate of West High School, where she played women’s basketball. She was a lifelong West High Alumni member and served on her class reunion committee. She worked as an elementary secretary in Columbus Public Schools. Shirley was a life-long Ohio State Buckeyes fan. She and Bill enjoyed attending many football games over the years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bowling, playing cards and visiting casinos. There will be a private service for immediate family only in honor of Shirley’s wishes.
