He is also fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Sid and Velma met through their love of music and married on February 23, 1952. They shared a devoted partnership and a life of travel until her passing on June 10, 2014.
A skilled machinist by trade, Sidney contributed his talents to several companies over his long career. He worked for Jeffries Mining from 1951 to 1959, North American Rockwell Aviation from 1960 to 1969, and Ross Laboratories from 1971 until his retirement in 1993, serving as a machinist and calibration mechanic.
Sidney was a dedicated member of Christian Assembly for 57 years where he was happy to serve in the audio department and home group ministry. He was the last surviving member of one of the church’s prayer groups – the Romeo Club – Retired Old Men Eating Out – where the men enjoyed breakfast, laughter and prayer together for many, many years.
He was also a proud member of the Wayne County Historical and Genealogical Society and served as bookkeeper and treasurer for the Northland Senior Village IV, offering his time and energy to the service of others well into his later years.
Sidney Allen Queen will be remembered for his quiet and gentle ways, his generosity to others and the sacrificial love he showed to his family and those around him.
While flowers are welcomed, contributions to the Helping Hands Food Pantry at Christian Assembly would make Sid happy.
