

Spitkal D. “Spike” Sowers, 59, of Ringgold, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Grant Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1954 in Circleville, the son of the late James Oscar and Rosa Lee “Belle” (Fowler) Sowers. Spike was a 1973 graduate of Circleville High School and worked for American Orthopedic. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, going to flea markets and riding his 3-wheeled motorcycle. Spike was easy-going and usually quiet, who got up early on sunny days and liked to hibernate on dreary, rainy days. He is survived by his loving wife of over thirty years, Judy (Ritchie) Sowers; son, Chad (Traci) Sowers; grandsons, Chad and Bradden Sowers; sisters, Tonja Selvage and Twana Neal; nieces, Tymber and Laklyn Neal; nephew, Guston Selvage; great niece, Nevaeh Browning and great nephew, Gage Selvage; his “partners in crime” sister- and brother-in-law, Joyce and Kevin Graul; aunts, uncles, cousins, many longtime high school buddies; and special canine companions, Chloe, Radar, Brutus and Charlie.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 18, 2013 with Rev. Keith Davis officiating. Burial will be in Reber Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions be made to Ohio Health Foundation, 180 E. Broad St., 31st floor, Columbus, OH 43215.
