Steven A. Miller. People often said, "If I could live another life, I want to come back as a Miller kid." No truer words have been spoken because our father and husband was the best. Steve, a loving husband, caring father, proud grandfather, trusted advisor and loyal friend, age 63, died Friday, February 12, 2016. He was born April 26, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio and is preceded in death by his father, Samuel E. Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Robert Vander Schoor. Steve is survived by his mother, Ethel Sindel Miller; wife of 42 years, Lisa Christy Miller; children, Andrea M. (John) Fedele, Benjamin R. (Nicole) Miller, and Lauren C. (Patrick) Wilson; grandchildren, John Dante and Elena Fedele, Gemma, Luca, and Baby Girl (#6) Miller, and Silas Wilson; sister, Cindy A. (Brian) Rummery; nephew and niece Jonathan Vander Schoor and Kelly (Vander Schoor) Castagno and other beloved family. Our family will always cherish the quality time we spent together on thoroughly planned family vacations and countless adventures through every historical site our paths would cross. Steve was an avid Civil War history buff, fisherman, handyman and loyal fan of the Buckeyes and Browns. He built our home with the help of friends and loved working with his well-organized tool collection in his barn. He was supportive, encouraging, loving, generous and creative. He never missed a chance to share photos of his grandkids or boast about his children's latest accomplishments. His bear hugs were legendary. His friends tell us they will forever remember his remarkable kindness, selflessness, unwavering loyalty, larger than life personality, and smiling face, unless you made him late for dinner. Steve was a graduate of Northland High School (1970) and Capital University (1974), playing basketball for both schools. In 1976 he joined his father's company, Palmer Miller Nelson Insurance Agency, serving as its president since 1986. Under his leadership their size more than tripled. The agency is known for stability in large part because of Steve's compassion and ability to create long lasting friendships with his clients, partners and employees. A resident of Jefferson Township since 1983, Steve was dedicated to preserving its natural character. He served as Jefferson Township Trustee from 1986-1997 and on the board of the Jefferson Water and Sewer District since 2002. Jefferson Township would not be what it is today if not for his foresight and commitment to the township over the last 30 years. Steve was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church in Gahanna, at times leading the youth Luther League and playing on its basketball and softball teams. He was a member of the Gahanna-Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, serving as President in 1995. He loved his years spent coaching in Gahanna's youth recreational sports leagues. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 and 12-2 and 4-6 p.m. Thursday, February 18 at the SCHOEDINGER MARGARUM CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 19 at Peace Lutheran Church, 455 Clark State Road, Gahanna. Pastor Kai Nilse n officiating. Interment will follow at Headley Cemetery, Jefferson Township. Contributions may be designated in Steve's name to Jefferson Township Parks, 6545 Havens Road, Blacklick, OH 43004-9743 or Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
