Sue “Sukie” Shinbach Kaynes was born on June 20, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio. She was predeceased by her mother, Violet and father, Samuel Shinbach. She passed away peacefully on June 11, 2011 from pancreatic cancer after a long illness. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; sons, Bob, Jr. (Randy) and Tom (Sue) of Boston; grandchildren, Jessica and Stacy Kaynes; sister, Elizabeth Moser, of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Bexley High School and attended Connecticut College for Women. She belonged to AAA, AARP, Sam’s Club, the Columbus Public Library and the Rancho Mirage Public Library, just to name a few. She was also an active, vibrant volunteer in many committee activities, a member of Temple Israel Sisterhood, National Council of Jewish Women, The American Red Cross of Greater Columbus, The Joseph Schonthal Cancer Ray, the governing Council of Retired Senior Volunteer Program and helped start “Channel 6 on Your Side”. She was a former member of the old Winding Hollow Country Club; New Albany Country Club and Mission Hills Country Club of Rancho Mirage, CA where she and Bob spent 25 plus wonderful winter seasons. Sukie had a wonderful sense of humor which she used to write poems for many social events and a most positive attitude that helped her cope with 34 surgeries over her lifetime. Her doctors all agreed… she was a true survivor. She loved her bridge and canasta as well as traveling, and enjoyed everything she saw and everything she ate. No matter how badly she really felt before she passed away, she always sounded upbeat when talking on the phone and always was more interested in what the caller talked about than what she might have to say.
