Carol and I just learned of Susie’s passing and want to convey our sympathy to all her extended family. Susie and Phil were “Harbour Island friends”  along with the Edsons who we met yearly when we made our spring bonefishing trips to the Bahamas. Susie always welcomed us to the island with a lavish spread the night of our arrival on the island, which she must have spent hours preparing with the help of her island cook, and we’d all spend a lovely evening together over drinks and dinner catching  up with each other and, of course, talking about the status of the local bonefishing. On occasion she would invite legendary bonefish guide Bonefish Joe to join us who would regale us all with his stories of the 12-pounder who just got away. She and Phil also joined Carol and me for a trip to Maine and New Brunswick in 1986 for landlocks and Atlantic salmon where we chased these magnificent fish in the Moose River in ME and the Caines River in NB. We miss them both dearly and now take comfort that they are together again heading off on some new exciting adventure at some new destination. God speed Susie and God bless.

Dear Skeetise, Sally and Flipper - I always felt so welcome at your home growing up!  Your Mom was so full of fun.  She had a big smile and those twinkling eyes!  And I always felt that if she ever caught us sneaking around or getting into trouble, she would just want to join in the fun!  What a legacy she has in you all and your children.  I have so many fun memories of the farm, getting ice cream at Baskin and Robbins, BBF, walking to Scioto View Pharmacy with Sally in the wagon and getting phosphates at the counter.  .  . Your mom let us do a lot!  It was a different time for sure.  She poured her heart into her family, and that included a lot of us!  She was a wonderful gift to me. Most of your family will not know me, but possibly Susie, or "Skeetzie", will remember me as her fifth grade teacher at Windermere. I was Kay Russell then, now Kay Emrick. I absolutely adored your mother! I knew her first as a Pi Phi Alum, then when teaching, she was my favorite room mother of all! She was an absolute bright light to everyone around her, and always greeted me with a friendly smile and good conversation. I know you all have many memories of Susie that will help in the days ahead. I smile as I remember her, and am so sorry for your loss.

My heart reaches out to Skeetsie, Flip and Sally, and all those that your mother held so dear. I have so many wonderful memories of Susie, as I am sure all the kids in the neighborhood within a 5 mile radius of your house also do. She was a second mother to all of us. She was truly a source of positive energy that we were all drawn to. The Taylor house was always busy with cooking, kids, dogs, fun, love, and laughter. Susie tolerated our bugs, tadpoles, fish, fort-building, mischief and fun. She really “saw” us. she listened to us and heard us. She talked with us and loved us. She had special nicknames for all of us kids, and always seemed genuinely happy to see us, and host us for a sleepover, first aid, or just a snack. I don’t remember most of the things she did for us. I am sure I have forgotten nearly all of the things she said, but I do remember the way she made me feel; welcomed, special, and loved. We all hold you close in our hearts in the coming days. You should know that we share your heartache, and also loving memories of your mother that we all cherish as extended family. I will be sending warm and healing thoughts your way in the coming days. I heard By and By for the first time shorty after my grandmother passed away. Immediately it was her song, I too wish I had more time to listen.  Your dedication to her brought me to tears. I hope your mom  knows what a beautiful and talented son she has.

After hearing Taylor dedicate the concert in Columbus to his beloved grandmother,  I did a search for her obituary. I was so saddened to see that her passing was so recent. The energy and love at the show was so incredibly powerful and can not imagine a better way to share her memory.  Thank you for doing so and I wish all of you whatever  healing you need.

Your mother certainly was a life force and she always fascinated us as your back door neighbors. We loved her larger than life love for all of you as she hustled around, baking, listening to The Beach Boys and ringing that dinner bell.
She is one of my best childhood memories!
