Susan (Susie) Trumbull Magnuson passed away peacefully surrounded by her family following a 20 year battle with pulmonary hypertension. It was her positive attitude, strength, and faith in God that allowed her to fight courageously despite the hurdles she encountered with her health. Susie was a kind and gentle soul. She had a passion for family, friends, animals, and helping others. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 12, 1953 to Richard Eugene and Marian Davis Trumbull. She admired her two older brothers Richard Scott Trumbull (Margy) and Mark Trumbull (Linda). Susie and her family eventually moved to Toledo, Ohio, where she graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and then went to Denison University, where she made lifelong friends and was the president of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. After graduating from Denison in 1975, Susie worked as a nurse. She met Dan Magnuson and they married in 1977.
Together, they lived for many years in Upper Arlington, Ohio with their three children Heidi Magnuson James (Clark), Michael Magnuson (Connie), and Scott Magnuson (Allison). Susie was very proud of her five grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them (Caroline and Henry James, Avery Magnuson, and Olivia and Ben Magnuson). She was very active in her church, Trinity United Methodist, where she enjoyed serving as a Stephen Minister for many years. She also served in the Junior League of Columbus where she made many friends. Our family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors and nurses at The Ohio State University Medical Center for their loving care over the years, especially Eli Homsy, MD; and nurses Julie Lawson, Allie Schell, and Vicki Miller. Family will receive friends from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, September 29 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, September 30 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd. Entombment Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
