

Suzanne Bowman Harmon, born in Columbus, Ohio 10/20/30 to Stella F. Bowman and Gus K. Bowman Sr. passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her soul mate, Alfred W. Harmon, (Dah) whom she married in 1950. They enjoyed a wonderful, unique, expansive life for 59 years. Sue graduated from Columbus School for Girls in 1948 and attended Smith College. She quickly began raising a family of four. She was an active and involved supporter of the Bexley Public Schools, Columbus School for Girls, The American Cancer Society, and many other causes that are important to her family. Her creativity, curiosity and energy fueled her many artistic endeavors; knitting, weaving, crocheting, sewing, beading and designing. Sue Harmon Studios produced fiber art that grace the sofas of many. She thrilled her clients while a designer at Ruth Wilson Interiors. She was never without an artistic endeavor or two. One of her proudest accomplishments was her steadfast work with the Babe Zaharias Classic. From 1987 -‐ 2004 she was a continuous force in development for this event. Her fundraising expertise, helped grow the event from an original golf outing into a major Golf and Tennis event, that at became a hallmark for the Columbus chapter of the American Cancer Society. She formed lasting friendships while engaged in this work, and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year several times. An avid and proficient golfer, Sue played the game well, frequently placing in the Franklin County Women's' Golf Association Tournament. She made incredible, lifelong friends through the game of golf -‐ friends who loved her for her creativity, her detailed planning, her attention to detail, and her generosity. Sue will be remembered by her fine collections - of antiques, of artifacts and of friendships; her forthright opinions and her fierce love for her family. She is survived by her children Julie Harmon Ph.D. (Chris Kloth), Kathy Shkolnik (Larry), Molly Ruben, (Larry), Rocky Harmon (Lucinda). Grandchildren Zachary (Lisa), Alex Ruben, Weiler Harmon; brother, John (Jeri) Bowman and the rest of her special extended family: Diana and Billy Noojin, Devon Kloth, Maddy Osborn, and Kaya Kloth and many, many additional special friends including Steve Klingerman and Carmen Lungo. Also preceded in death by a brother, Gus K. Bowman Jr. Memorial Service will be held 9:30am Sunday March 26, 2017 at Temple Israel, 5419 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213. Shiva: 7:00pm, Sunday and Monday, March 26 and 27th.
