Sylvia Emswiler

Born December 4, 1935 in Bayonne, New Jersey, she grew up in Scarsdale New York and graduated from Scarsdale High School. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1957 with a Bachelor degree in history.

She married Tomas Richard Emswiler in June of 1957 and devoted much of her life to raising and nurturing her three children. She was active in the Bethel Presbyterian Church, delivered countless Meals on Wheels and was a 50 year member of P.E.O. Chapters CG and X. She had many friends with whom she traveled and shared her love of golf, and bridge. She cherished her grandchildren and took each on their own educational trip when they were 12 years old.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Robyn Salathe (Neil), Bo Emswiler (Stacy) and Karen Emswiler, grandchildren, Meritt Salathe, Pia Salathe, Ashia Emswiler and Bryce Emswiler. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Tom, and her parents, Virginia and Charles Brigga. She requested her ashes be spread on Amelia Is. with Tom’s.

A service will be held Thursday October 12, 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1735 Bethel Road, Columbus, Ohio. Lunch will follow and all are invited.
