Terry E. Turner, age 44 of Powell, passed away suddenly Monday, March 6, 2017 as a result of a traffic accident. Terry was born in Okinawa, Japan, son of Michael and Linda Turner. Growing up a “military brat”, Terry lived in many places including Omaha, Nebraska, Crete, Greece, San Antonio, Texas and Bellefontaine, Ohio. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School where he was a gifted athlete with who had a competitive spirit participating in many sports. Following high school he went on to graduate from the University of Findlay where he earned a scholarship in both soccer and track. While there he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and was an All-American Track Sprinter. Terry worked throughout his career as a social worker with children. He began working for the Ohio Department of Youth Services, then spent 16 years with Franklin County Children’s Services, and most currently had been working at Logan County Children’s Services. Working with at-risk youth was something Terry was most passionate about. He truly cared for and was dedicated to all “his children” and worked tirelessly for them. In his spare time, Terry enjoyed fishing, golfing, attending all of his children’s sporting events from basketball, softball, football, and baseball, and was a sports enthusiast who could always be found hollering at the TV, especially when the Minnesota Vikings were playing or when Urban Meyer would make calls he didn’t agree with. Most of all however, Terry truly enjoyed being a father and was most proud of the family he and his beloved wife created. There was nothing in this world that meant more to Terry than his angel, Kailyn and his dude, Tyler. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 17 years, Katrina; children, Kailyn and Tyler; parents, Michael and Linda; brother, Scott (Kathy); nieces, Tawny (Brad) Hanf, Allison and Morgan; mother-in-law, Cathy Fisher; father-in-law, James Smith; and countless other extended family members and dear friends. Terry is preceded in death by his grade school best friend, Juan Roberts. Terry’s tremendous love for his family was readily apparent to all who knew him.
