Thomas Jay Brown Jr.

Tom was raised in Lima, Ohio where he graduated from Lima Senior High. He moved to Columbus where he completed both his undergraduate and law degrees at The Ohio State University. For the past 45 years he lived in Grandview Heights where he was an avid supporter of the community and schools. Tom worked for the majority of his career at NiSource (Columbia Gas) where he was a member of the law department and led many negotiations. Tom loved sports (especially the Buckeyes and Blue Jackets), playing the guitar, listening to bluegrass and classic rock, reading anything and everything, trivia, travel and spending time with family and friends. He had a quick wit, clever humor and was always up for an adventure.

Tom will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years Paula (Van Fossen), his daughters Rachel Kacmar (Tim) and Amelia Schmiedel (Justin), his son Jacob (Lynnette), his grandsons TJ, Alex, Joseph and Michael, his siblings Linda Beaman (Joe), David (Ann) and Patty Reed (Jeff), his sister-in-law Jane Davis and his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Loretta Van Fossen, and his beloved pets Stormy, Scout, Coco, Princess, Smokey, Greystone and Calloway.

Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a reception will follow until 5 PM.
