

Tom May, born on August 2, 1929, passed into eternal life peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 90 on February 29, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann, and their five children; Kathy (Tim) Brinker, Nancy (Bruce) Ligo, Patti (Tom) Schlaegel, Tom (Joanna) May, Jr., and Binny (Terry) Schwallie, as well as twelve grandchildren: David & Matt Brinker and Kristin Rix; Caitlin, Bryce, and Grant Ligo; Tommy, Danny, Ben, and Colin Schlaegel; Hayden and Peyton Schwallie; and five great-grandchildren: Jake, Trey, Ryan, Eli, and Colton Schlaegel.
More than anything, Tom loved spending time with family and friends, especially camping and fishing. Tom and Ann raised their family for 44 years in Worthington Hills. At Tom’s suggestion, and under his leadership, the first Worthington Hills Fourth of July Parade took place and will celebrate its 50th parade this year. Tom also served as Civic Association President, and PTA President.
Tom graduated from Indiana University in Business and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, was a member of the ‘Marching 100’ Band, and participated in the ‘Little 500’ bike race (and returned to ride again for the 50th anniversary).
Tom was proud to serve his country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force (Korea). He was very involved in many organizations including: the American Legion, Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th Degree), and Catholic War Veterans (Commander). He’s been an active resident of Willow Brook Retirement Community, including the Entertainment Committee.
Services will be provided by Schoedinger Funeral Home of Worthington. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 on Friday, March 6, 2020, with brief ceremonies at 6:00 (Catholic War Veterans) and 7:45 (Knights of Columbus). A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus Ohio, 43235, on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., with the graveside service immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
