

Thomas Edward Newkirk, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. He was born in Columbus on March 27, 1937. He was a graduate of West High School, and he served our country in the US Army. Tom retired from Ohio Bell as a central office technician after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and he volunteered for the Farm Science Review and at voting polls. Tom was an avid Ohio State Fan, and he worked for many years as an usher at Ohio Stadium. He enjoyed camping, golfing, and bowling with friends and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Newkirk; sons, Gerald T. Newkirk, James E. (Coleen) Newkirk, and #3 son Ralph F. Moore and family; mother, Helen B. Newkirk; brother, Marcus J. (Beverly) Newkirk; grandchildren, Daniel J. Newkirk, Zachary E. Newkirk, Kaitlyn P. (Colby) Randall, Preston Michael Thomas Newkirk, and Spencer Gerald Newkirk; many nieces, nephews, and dear cousins; as well as good neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry P. Newkirk; and siblings, Shirley A. Rose and Henry C. Newkirk. Family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W.
