Timothy Louis McGowen

Timothy Louis McGowen, 57, of Athens, OH, passed away with family by his side on August 30, 2018. He was born to Roy and Evelyn (Gates) McGowen on October 4, 1960, in Indianapolis. On December 1, 1984, he married Joette (DeRosia) McGowen. They raised one son, Brendan.

He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1979 and then went on to receive a bachelor's degree in English from Greenville University in 1983. Tim was an Operations Manager at Penske Logistics where he worked for over 16 years. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, bird watching and fishing. Tim loved traveling and spending time with his family. He loved to laugh and was known for his quick wit.

Tim is survived by his wife, Joette, son, Brendan, brother, Michael (Lisa) McGowen, two sisters, Kim (Harold) Goldsberry and Dixie Wagoner, as well as a large extended family.

Family and friends may gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, for visitation, with a service at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, September 8, at the First Baptist Church on 1012 Stafford Rd, Plainfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation in his memory.
