

Tracey E. Dils passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018. Born on September 21, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Tracey was a 1976 graduate of Granville High School. While there, Tracey enjoyed competitive swimming, drama, and discovered her love for literature and poetry. Tracey was a natural teacher and as a young adult coached swimming, taught music, and positively impacted many in the community of Granville, OH. She attended the College of Wooster and graduated in 1980. During her time there, Tracey met her loving husband, received the Newbury Scholarship award, and Bachelor's of Arts Degree in English. Tracey was a loving parent and always full of energy. She was a well-known writer and educator, and was a prolific children's both author of over 50 published works. Tracey was the recipient of the Ohioana Book Award. She served on various educational boards including the Thurber House Board and The Ohio State University Library Board. Tracey relished sharing her love and knowledge of writing and volunteered her time conducting therapeutic writing workshops for school aged children and numerous charitable organizations. Tracey's smile shined brightest when she was surrounded by a captive group of children listening to one of her stories. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Richard Herrold; children, Emily and Clay Parker of Hilliard, Ohio and Phillip Herrold and Tyler Adams of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, Charlotte and Beatrice Parker; father, Pete Dils; and her siblings, Ben, Becky and Doug. Tracey was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Dils. Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221, where family will receive friends from 9:30-11 AM.
