Velda Louise Gardner

Velda Louise Gardner passed away on Oct. 14, 2009, after a brief illness. She was born on July 2, 1927, in Letart, W.Va., to Ervin and Nora Spears, who predecease her. She was married 35 years to William “Lester” Gardner, also deceased. Velda was the 11th of 12 children, William “Bill” Spears, Virginia “Sis” Raney, James Spears, Opal Wall, Bonnie Nibert, Nora Berkley, Ruby Snyder, Robert Spears, Mary Burns and Virgil Spears all predeceased her. Velda is survived by three daughters, Angela (Ric) Stepp, Barbara (Michael) Barbee, and Brenda (Stephen) Bailey; 6 grandchildren, Jerry Tipton, Christina Tipton, Stephen Bailey, Daniel Bailey, Robert Morgan, and Amanda Joly; and 9 great-grandchildren, Laura Dresbach, Dylan and Leah Tipton, Michaela, Leah-Anne and Owen Bailey, Cali Tipton, Christian and Aidan Joly; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the funeral home.
