Vicki Derby

Vicki Lynn Derby, age 68, of Columbus, Ohio was called to her eternal home on Feb. 18, 2024. She was born on Oct. 17, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Norman G. and Florence (Martin) DeLong. Vicki is predeceased by her parents; siblings Norman G. DeLong and Richard L. DeLong; nephews Trent DeLong and Bradley DeLong, and sister-in-law Linda Dreyfus.

She will be deeply missed by sister-in-law Karen DeLong, niece-in-law Cindy DeLong, nieces and nephews Cheri (John) Siles, Michelle (Jim) Gallant, Eric (Dana Harms) DeLong, Stephanie DeLong and Kristopher (Erin) DeLong; great nieces and nephews Skyler, Rio, Marina, Danielle, Andrew, Kaleigh, Ashley, Arielle, Cory, Foster and many other dear relatives and friends. Vicki graduated in 1973 from West High School, Columbus, Ohio.

During her working years she was employed by Nationwide Insurance, Palmetto GBA, Avon Sales and most recently, Walmart. Vicki delighted in spending time with family, friends and “Kitty Kat” her cherished feline companion. She cared for the welfare of others, often praying for and with those she came in contact with. Her favorite pastimes were painting ceramics, reading, shopping, going to bingo, playing games and researching her family heritage.

Her genealogical research sparked interest in organizing a family gathering she coined “Cousins Day.” In her early years she attended Thomas Avenue Church of Christ and more recently, Madison Christian Church.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10AM to 12Noon at Advantage by Schoedinger – Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204 with a funeral service at 12Noon, Pastor Paul Barnes officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Cemetery.
