Vinetta Louise "Metta" Bennett, 92, of Dublin, passed away on April 21, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 3, 1924 in Ingomar, Pennsylvania to William Herbert and Blanche Margaret (Parks) Young. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Howard Sherman Bennett, Jr., her sister Betty Moses and her brother Bill Young. Metta will be greatly missed by her five sons Howard III (Cheryl), Doug (Leesa), Keith (Aurora), Mark (Sally) and Jay (Tracey); brother Lynn Young and sister Carolyn Robertson; grandchildren Jordonna (Dr. Steven) Fulop, Bryane (Joe) Roberts, Devin, Nathan (Anne Ryan,Fiancée) Maddi, Paige, Laine, Christian, Don and Eric; and great-grandchildren, Aaron and Belle Roberts; many other nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. Metta was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a dedicated member of Broad Street Christian church where she was an alto in the choir for many, many years. She enjoyed ceramics, crossword puzzles and played bingo with a highly competitive spirit! Metta was a "second-mom" to many of her sons' friends and extended family members and she never met a stranger. Metta was most happy when surrounded by the chaos and love of her family. She was very proud of her five sons and their families and loved them very much. In the way Metta lived, she taught all of them how to love, to be positive, to treat everyone the same, to be respectful, and to treat others with kindness first. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. Funeral services will be held the following morning, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Foust, great-nephew, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Metta's memory to be made to Breast Cancer Research www.bcrfcure.org, Alzheimers www.alz.org or a Hospice care provider. The family wishes to thank the administrators and attending staff of Dublin Retirement Village and Memory Care facility where she resided and was well-cared for and loved.
