

Virgil L. Hibbs, 77, of Mineral Wells, West Virginia (currently from Columbus, Ohio) died on November 28th, 2011. Born on September 25th, 1934 in Grant Town, West Virginia, he was the son of John and Marie (Fusarina) Hibbs. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Lucy (Scott) Hibbs. Daughter Ranay (George) Nunamaker of Galloway, Ohio; two brothers Calvin Hibbs of Wheeling, West Virginia; John Hibbs of Logan, West Virginia and four sisters; Doris Freeland of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Sarah Scnaufer of North Ridgeville, Ohio; Laverna Baier of Minerva, OH; and Louise Toothman of Gilford Lake Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Robert, Henry, and James. He retired after 38 years of service from Monongahela Power; most of which were at the Pleasants Power Station: Willow Island, West Virginia. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1960, aboard the USS Amphion. He was a 32nd Degree Mason (Mount Olivet Lodge, No. 3); and member of the Ben Bey Grotto of Parkersburg, WV. Virgil was also a Kentucky Colonel. Local community memberships included the VFW, Eagles and American Legion Posts. He loved to travel with his wife Lucy and camping along the Little Kanawha River. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden, playing his guitar and singing as well as writing songs and poems. Virgil especially liked spending time with his favored dog and best buddy, Buckett.
