Walter "Leon" Higgins

Walter “Leon” Higgins, age 74, of Grove City, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. He was born on September 22, 1942 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late Walter and Audrey Robinson Higgins. Leon completed his B.S. at Marshall University in Huntington, WV and received a master’s degree from both Morehead State University and The Ohio State University. Leon retired from Columbus Public Schools where he worked as a guidance and vocational counselor. He also taught Social Studies and Business during his career in education. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Ralph Higgins and Paul Higgins; and sisters Noleen Hixon and Betty Parsons.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Aliff Higgins of 47 years; sons Bryan (Maryann) Higgins of Galloway, OH and Greg (Melissa) Higgins of Grove City, OH; grandchildren Zachary, Morgan, Johnny and Justin Higgins; sister Joyce Eastham of Proctorville, OH; brother Robert (Linda) Higgins of Willow Wood, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5-8pm at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11am. Interment at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association Central Ohio Chapter 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215 in Walter “Leon” Higgins’ name.
