

Walter Dale Thompson, Sr., also known as "Walt" or "Dale", age 83, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away December 31, 2015 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was born May 6, 1932 in Fairfield County to the late Charles LeRoy and Vinnie Bell (Wine) Thompson. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and married the love of his life, Donna M. Finger on May 23rd, 1953. He was a graduate of Pickerington High School. Over the years he worked as a farmer, a milkman (Harmony Farms) an insurance salesman (Western and Southern), he worked for Westinghouse, Standard Brands, and then retired from Exel Logistics where he drove a forklift for 23 years. He enjoyed playing Euchre, listening to country and gospel music, and above all, spending time with his family. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Art, George and Pearl; sisters, Lena, Fannie and Alta; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Goldie Finger. He is survived by his faithful wife of 62 years, Donna; son and daughter-in-law, Walter "Dale Jr." and Bobbi Thompson, beloved granddaughter, Stephanie (Chris) Smith; brother, Russell; sisters, Bessie, Rosie, Freda, Mary and Judy; brother-in-law William Folk; sister-in-law Alice (Kirby) Bristow; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Family will welcome friends 4-7pm Tuesday, January 5, 2015 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, where services will be held at 1pm Wednesday; interment to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice in his memory.
