Wendy Thorn-Smith

Fabric artist and retired legal assistant Wendy Thorn-Smith’s life didn’t come to an end with her death. On September 30, 2021 at the age of 65, Wendy unexpectedly passed away leaving her beloved sister and niece who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Wendy was raised in New London, attending New London High School until in her mid-teens, when her family moved to Conway, Arkansas. She graduated from Conway High School and attended the University of Central Arkansas before marrying and raising a family. She moved back to Ohio over 20 years ago, loving the cooler summer weather, but not the snow so much. She was a 16-year lung cancer survivor, who counseled others going through much the same. She volunteered some of her time making preemie clothes and blankets for babies born before their time, giving their families much need closure. Wendy was a former member to the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the United Methodist Church, and continued exploring her faith throughout her life.

The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Wendy. She had a great sense of humor, finding happiness in everyday activities. She loved spending time with her sister, niece, and friends, her cats, sewing, designing, and creating fabric art, going to the movies, watching college football on TV, cooking, and just going for a ride to get out of the house. Wendy is survived by her sister, Alena Scott, her niece, Stephenie Cox (Kevin), her son, James Crawford “Craft” Shaw, and several grandchildren. She is much loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 followed immediately by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Schoedinger – Dublin, at 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio.
