

William Hayden Brown, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Bill was born on May 22, 1922 in Columbus and a life long resident of the Hilltop and west Columbus. A graduate of West High School on June 1940, The Ohio State University Bachelor of Architecture Degree on December 1948. A life member of the OSU Alumni Association and Alpha Rho Chi fraternity. A member of The American Institute of Architects, The Architects Society of Ohio and a charter member and past president of the Columbus Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute. After a number of years associated with prominate architectural firms in Columbus and in private practice the last 24 years of his career were with Karlsberger Company Architects, retiring as vice president in 1997. A member of West Gate Lodge No. 623, F & A.M. since 1946. A former long term member of Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church and former member of Westminster Church in Lincoln Village. A veteran of WWII, Navy Reserve, was commissioned a Naval Aviator and served as flight instructor in twin engine aircraft at Pensacola Naval Air Station. Bill is preceded in death by his dear and loving wife, Frances J. Brown, who were married for 56 years and 9 months and sorely missed; parents, Ernest H. and Harriet F. Brown; brother, Robert J. Brown and his wife, Joanne; and daughter-in-law, Sabrina Brown. He is survived by his children, Julia (Irv) Schumacher, James H. Brown, Christine (Steve) Sargent, William H. (Joni) Brown, and David L. (Colleen) Brown; grandchildren, Casey and Jenna (fiancé, Warren Smith) Schumacher, Michael Sargent, Natalie, Emily (fiancé, Brent Bird), Hayden, Ethan and Cassidy Brown. He is also survived by sister, Jean (John) Hlay, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathie Lewis and many nieces and nephews and their children and many friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 2-5pm at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204; where funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, September 20, 2010.
