

William "Bill" Conner, 84, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018. He was born in Chillicothe on October 2, 1934. Bill was a lifelong writer, getting his Bachelors in Journalism from Ohio University. He went on to work for the Columbus Dispatch, Western Star in Lebanon, Ohio (1963-1966), Springfield Daily News (1966-1977), and Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey (1977-1981), and Satellite News in Maryland. An accomplished author, Bill had a book published, "Iron Age of America: Before Columbus." He also had the honor of interviewing Buzz Aldrin and Gene Roddenberry. Bill was also a veteran, serving in the Air Force from 1955-1958. He was a long-standing member of the Midwestern Epigraphic Society, a lifelong lover of science fiction, and had a major interest in Ohio archaeology. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Augustus Conner; mother, Maude Lucille (Townsend); sister Phyllis Parry; and brother Miles Conner. William is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Roberta (Flugge) Conner; children Dennis (Karen) Conner of Germantown, Maryland; and Valerie (Bryan) Armor of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren Courtney Conner, Sydney Conner, Chase Conner, Chelsie Hartman, Andrew Hartman, and Zak Armor; nieces and nephews Charles (Sandy) Conner of Columbus, Linda (Sam) Wood of Chillicothe, Leslie Conner of Texas, Cassandra Bolt-Meredith, and Brianna Bolt. William's family will receive family and friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
