William H. Dorn

William H. "Bud" Dorn, age 94, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Bud was born on July 23, 1922 in London, Ohio to Ressie and Grace (Clark) Dorn. He graduated from London High School and The Ohio State University. Bud was an excellent baseball player and had been contacted by the MLB prior to being drafted into the US Army where he served our country proudly during WWII. He retired after 40 years from Anderson Concrete. He was also an avid slow and fast pitch softball player, bowler and Cincinnati Reds fan. Avis and Bud enjoyed traveling together all over the United States. Bud was a member of the Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; twin sister, Jane and sister, Ruth. Survived by his loving wife of 70 years on June 17th, Avis Dorn; son, Lanse Dorn and daughter, Jody (Stanley) Ward; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the HOPE and HEART FUNERAL HOME by SCHOEDINGER, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio where funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Ed Sensenbrenner officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hoge Memorial Church or COSI in memory of Bud.
