William Henry Frye

William H. "Bill" Frye, age 79 of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Bill was born in Sandusky, Ohio and grew up in Huron, Ohio, son of the late William J. and Mary Jane Frye. Also preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Brod and Karen Frye. Bill graduated from Huron High School. After graduation, Bill went to Ohio University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He then continued his education at University of Dayton where he received Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling. Bill had a long and successful career as an educator, coach, and high school guidance counselor. He taught and coached at Tuscarawas Valley and Sandy Valley High School and worked as a guidance counselor at Dover, Strasburg, and Worthington Kilbourne High School. Bill was passionate about education and was a strong advocate for the students. He was honest, kind and had a caring spirit. In addition, Bill also enjoyed golfing, basketball and always kept busy doing something. His family was extremely important to him, especially his grandchildren. Being a grandfather was something he took much pride in and loved spending time with his 8 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Frye; children, Leann (Jeff) Knape and Kevin (Cydney) Frye; grandchildren, William "Cole", Jonathan "Jack", and Luke Knape and Jossey, Mary Allison "Ally", Lindsey, Tucker, and William "Will" Frye; sister, Marilyn (Paul) Schellenberger; and many other extended family members, dear friends, colleagues and students. A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 2:00, Saturday, May 11, 2019, at The Athletic Club of Columbus at 136 E Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215, where family will receive friends at a reception immediately following service until 5:00. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43215 or to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., #170, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
