William John Knop (7/23/31 - 3/24/16) Born in Milwaukee, WI to Alfred and Adele Knop, the youngest of 4 boys. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Richard. Survived by brother, Carl (Sandy) Knop, 5 loving children - David (Lisa) Knop, Jonathan (Kelly) Knop, Margaret Knop, Amy (Norm) Russell, Stuart (Kathy) Knop, 14 grandchildren, the mother of his children, Judy Knop, and many nieces and nephews. Graduated from Whitefish Bay High School Class of 1949, University of Wisconsin (B.S. in Economics, Minors in History and English) Class of 1954, and Dallas Theological Seminary (Master's Degree in Theology) Class of 1958. Bill spent the majority of his career serving the Lord in various capacities across the country. His duties included serving as Pastor at Grafton Baptist Church in Grafton, WI, on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Houston, Director of the AV Tape Ministry at Campus Crusade HQ in Arrowhead Springs, CA and teaching Campus Crusade staff training courses in Greek, Romans, and Old Testament Survey. Following his tenure with Campus Crusade, he served as the Dean at Biblical Dynamics Institute in San Bernardino, CA where he also taught Greek, Bible, and Theology. In 1978, the Lord led Bill and family across the country to Northern Virginia where he served as Administrator of Calvary Road Christian School, overseeing all preschool, elementary, and secondary instruction as well as an extended care and child care program. After many years in Christian ministry, Bill transitioned over to tutoring international students, first in the Washington DC area, and then for the past 15 years with students at The Ohio State University. While he provided for himself and his family through a variety of jobs, his true passion was ministry. Above all else, Bill was a student of the Word and his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and precious hours he spent talking about the goodness of God. His earthly presence is greatly missed, but "in His presence is fullness of joy" and that knowledge will comfort all who loved him until they are reunited one day in Heaven. Donations may be made in his memory to his granddaughter's ministry to international students at the University of Oklahoma. Online giving can be done at givetoiv.org/elleman or checks payable to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (Memo: Elle Mann) can be mailed to InterVarsity, PO Box 7895, Madison, WI 53707.
