William J. Walker

William J. Walker, age 88, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016. He was born on December 2, 1927 in Dormont, PA and was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Catherine (Yates) Walker and brother Robert Walker. Bill grew up in Akron, OH and in January 1946 joined the U.S. Navy. Throughout his 20 year career in the Navy, he married Ruth Wade, had four children and was very proud of earning his BA degree from the University of Maryland. In 1965 he started a second career with the General Tire and Rubber Company in Bryan, OH where he stayed until retirement in 1990. In 2003 he and his wife moved to Gahanna, OH. They also spent their winters in Sebring, FL. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 69 years; twin brothers Terry and Tom Walker; children William J. (Angela) Walker, Jr., Joan (Chuck) Wisler, James (Karen) Walker and Stan (Leslie) Walker. In addition, he is survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST in Gahanna, OH with inurnment to follow at Blendon Central Cemetery.
