

William R. Welsh, 83 years old, departed this life Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at St. Ann’s Hospital. He leaves his loving wife, Lois Jean of 62 years; son, Thomas (Lory) Welsh; granddaughter, Joni (Welsh) Fleming; grandsons, Bill and Brent Lashley and Christopher Welsh; 10 great grandchildren; along with niece, Pamela Dye and nephew, Michael Welsh. Preceded in death by daughter, Barbara (Welsh) Lashley and brother, Ralph Welsh. Bill retired from American Legion Department of Ohio, including being Director of Buckeye Boys State and Legion Baseball for 19 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scouts of America and was inducted into the Ohio Veteran’s Hall of Fame in 1992. Bill was also a member of Hyde Park Masonic Lodge in Cincinnati. A member of American Legion Post 554 in Fairfax, Ohio, a volunteer at The Ohio Historical Society and the State House for many years. Bill was a dedicated member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 700 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085 where a memorial service will be held 1pm, Saturday, February 20, 2010 with Father Philip College officiating. Private family interment at a later date. Mr. Welsh’s family will receive guests following the service.
