Yung lived a life defined by dedication, deep integrity, and an extraordinary work ethic. For 40 years, Yung worked in the food service industry, missing few days and never doing anything halfway. To Yung, hard work wasn’t just a necessity, it was a point of pride and a way of showing love for her family. She was the first to arrive, the last to leave, and the one everyone turned to when a job needed to be done.
Beyond her professional life, Yung was a person of deep substance, unforgettable character, and a unique presence that will be profoundly missed.
To those who met Yung in passing, she could seem a bit formidable. She wore a protective, no-nonsense exterior—a shield built from a lifetime of hard work, independence, and straight-forward honesty. Yung didn't believe in sugarcoating things, and she never pretended to be anyone other than herself.
But to anyone fortunate enough to be allowed past that outer shell, Yung was an absolute softie. Underneath that hard surface, beat a heart of pure gold, overflowing with deep gentleness, an unexpected kindness, and an unshakeable loyalty. Yung showed love not through flowery words, but through actions: quietly slipping money to someone struggling, or listening with total, non-judgmental devotion when it mattered most or with a meal.
Yung is survived by son Dae Oh; daughter Jin Daniels; grandchildren, James Justice and Dominique Cherry; great-granddaughter, Violet; great-grandson Enzo; sisters, Kyung Hee Kim and Chei Suk Shin.
