

Catherine Theresa Dineen of Valley Cottage, NY, 83 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by
family on January 29, 2025. She is survived by her children Nora, Timothy, Michael, and Patrick. Son-in-
law Kieran. Daughter-in-laws Karen, JeanneMarie, and Jacqueline. She is also survived by 13 adoring grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Both in America & Ireland. Katie, Sean, Kieran, Tadhg,
Courtney, Katelyn, Ryan, Devin, Brendan, Fiona, Owen, Molly, and Paddy. Her 2 great-grandchildren,
Jack & Kallie. She was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Patrick Joseph. Catherine was a sister to Bridget Mary Dineen, predeceased.
Catherine was a graduate of BOCES vocational school. She enjoyed a rewarding career as a Licensed
Practical Nurse at Nyack Hospital. She later continued her nursing career serving adults of special needs
in Rockland County. Catherine’s free time was enjoyed meeting with life-long friends at Congers Senior Community Center. Most of all, Catherine enjoyed the company of those closest to her. Family. Catherine always made certain her children were safe, and where they needed to be. Catherine was an incredibly generous spirit and will be remembered as providing selflessly.
Herself, the daughter of Irish immigrants, Catherine was so very proud of her Irish American heritage. Catherine loved filling photo albums with faded, black and white photos of her Irish ancestors. Then telling their stories. Catherine spoke three words of Irish: Castlegregory, Kilmacthomas, and Knocknagoshel. If you knew Catherine, you knew just how near and dear those three places were to her.
Catherine was born in Manhattan, to Larry and Nora Sheehan on October 29, 1941. Raised on Lexington Avenue, Saint Frances de Sales Parish. Catherine attended Saint Frances de Sales School on East 97th St. She was married to Patrick Joseph Dineen on April 22, 1961. Catherine and Patrick started their family while living on Marion Avenue in The Bronx. Catherine spoke so highly of her years there and the strong connection to the people and Our Lady of Refuge Parish. In 1977, Catherine moved with her family to Congers, in Rockland County. Catherine would often say—she made her best friends in life here. For the next 48 years Catherine would remain an active member of St. Paul’s Parish.Together, Catherine and Patrick would enjoy 44 years of marriage until his passing in February 2006.
Visitation will be at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers @ 113 Lake Road. Monday February 3rd, 3-7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday February 4, at 10 AM. St. Paul’s Church, 82 Lake Road, Congers NY 10920. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lake Road, in Congers.
