Dennis J. Flynn

Dennis Joseph Flynn of Congers, NY passed away at the age of86. He was born on July 9, 1935 on the West Side of Manhattan, to Dennis and Sarah Barret Flynn. He attended Sacred Heart grade school, Cardinal Hayes High School, St. John’s University and earned a Master’s Degree from City University of New York. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and then entered the New York City Police Department. He retired in July 1985, a Lieutenant of Detectives. He was a member of the NYCPD Emerald Society, Holy Name Society, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Pope John XXIII Council,Lieutenant Benevolent Association, Rockland County Shields, 10-13 club and amember of St. Paul’s RC Church, Congers. After retiring he went to work for Chrysler Corporation and became the personal bodyguard of Lee Lacocco (CEO)and his family. After a number of years he worked in the same capacity for David Rockefeller and his family. An Irish Citizen who was very proud of his Irish heritage, he loved Irish and Country music. He also officiated Baseball and Football for twenty eight years.

Dennis is survived by his wife Georgia after 65 years of marriage,their children, Eileen, Jeanne, John, (Denise and Robert), (Kathleen and Jim),(Theresa and John). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Ryan,Kieran, Danielle, Dennis, Kylie, Kaitlyn, Kaleigh, John, Peyton and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins in America and Ireland. He is predeceased by his son Dennis and daughter Patricia.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Congers on Friday, June 17th at 10am. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
