

Geraldine C. Shanley (nee Fasano) passed away peacefully on September 21, 2013 with her loving family by her side. She was born in New York City on December 4th, 1922 to Philip and Virginia (Montemurro) Fasano and moved to Valley Cottage in 1957 from the Fordham section of the Bronx. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in New York City. Geraldine was a secretary in the law firm for the Daily News for many years and later was a personal secretary to the president of the Corbetta Construction Company that built the Tappan Zee Bridge. She was very active in the St. Paul’s Parish in Valley Cottage and was an officer in the original Mothers’ Guild at St. Paul’s. She taught CCD classes at St. Paul’s for 14 years, as well as serving on a Bingo Team for 19 ½ years. Geraldine was also a cook in St. Paul’s Convent for 8 years. Geraldine is survived by her two beloved sons, Kevin and his wife Anne Pellillo-Shanley of Pomona, NY, and Brian and his wife Cathy Shanley of Rockhill, NY; 4 precious grandchildren: Megan, Brian, Kylie and Chase; and 2 cherished great grandchildren: Madison and Emma. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, in May 1998. Geraldine will be missed by all who knew her. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 25th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26th, 10am, at St. Paul’s Church, Congers, followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, Congers, NY.
