Mary J Renart

Mary Julia Renart, aged 80, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on December 2, 2019. Mary was born on May 2, 1939, in Tappan, New York, the daughter of Theodore and Florence Kalkhuis.
Mary attended St Joseph’s Grammar School and graduated from St. Celia High School in Englewood, New Jersey. On July 4th, 1959, she married the love of her life Raymond Joseph Renart, after 57 years of marriage Raymond preceded her in death in 2016. Mary was a dedicated mother first and foremost. In addition to raising their four children she was an active member in the community and volunteered much of her time fulfilling responsibilities in her local parish and served on various fundraising committees. Mary thoroughly enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist. She played the organ at weekly Mass for many years and provided piano accompaniment for school plays and other public events.
Mary is survived by her sister, Ann and her husband Daniel Hladik, her brother Theodore Kalkhuis Jr. and brother-in-law George and wife Delores of Goshen, NY. She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Raymond Jr. and wife Joanne of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Timothy and wife Beth of Warwick, NY, Thomas and wife Valerie of Manhattan, NY and Denise and husband David Harnett of Washington Township, NJ; five grandchildren, Paul, Brandie, Philip, Christopher Harnett and Patrick Harnett; her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Visiting will be held on Friday, December 6, from 2-4pm and 7-9p Higgins, 113 Lake Rd. East, Congers, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 10am at St. Joseph's Church in Spring Valley, followed by interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be sent in her name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 245 North Main Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977.
