

Peggy one of three children born December 13 th 1946 in Yorkville, Manhattan, NY to Howard and Margaret Hohlfeld, sister to Howard and Bill Hohlfeld.
Peggy married Lawrence Tracy, September 2, 1967 at St Elizabeth’s Church, NY, NY. Together they had three children.
Peggy is survived by her children Robyn Tracy Sullivan and her husband Terry Sullivan, Brian Tracy and his wife Lori, Loryn Kiley and her husband Dave, her brother Bill and wife Heidi Hohlfeld, her sister-in-law, Patty wife of the late Howard Hohlfeld. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Liam Joseph, Owen Michael, Finn, Angela and her step grandchildren Madison and Emma Kiley.
Peggy cherished her time spent with family and especially enjoyed hosting for her favorite holiday, Christmas. She also cherished good times singing and dancing with her dear friends Maureen, Joan, Diane and Nellie, whom she lovingly referred to as “her sisters.”
After the birth of her three children, Peggy as a single parent accomplished earning a Bachelor’s Degree from St Thomas Aquinas in Education and also went onto earn her Master’s Degree in Psychology from Long Island University, both with National Honors. Peggy began her career as a Guidance counselor at Albertus Magnus High School.
Her path to becoming a guidance counselor began as the mother of a child with developmental disabilities. One of her passions in life became to advocate for special needs children. Ahead of her time, “She was one of the forerunners of opening up the consciousness of the public to the possibility of educating handicapped children,” and at the request of a medical doctor in the 1970’s, co-wrote a pamphlet for parents of handicapped children.
In 1989 in her role as Project Coordinator of Project C.O.P.E./Substance Abuse Prevention Counselor Peggy was commended for her “Superb efforts in organizing and planning outstanding programs for Nyack Public Schools’ students and community.” Peggy then went onto work for Spring Valley High school and retired in 2009.
The recognition of her work over the years includes but is not limited to The Rockland County Woman of Achievement Award, 1991, where she was unanimously voted, “For her perseverance through difficult times while maintaining a positive influence as an agent of change in Rockland County.” In addition Peggy was recognized by Nyack Head Start, “For her tireless effort, time, support and commitment to the ESL Class in 2017.”
A wake will be held on Friday November 14, 2025 with visitation from 4-8pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral home, 113 Lake Rd. Congers, NY 10920. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday November 15, 2025 10:00am at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 82 Lake Rd., Congers, NY 10920.
