She was born to Giovanna and Candiloro Pellicano in the Bronx, N.Y. on November 8, 1930. She was the youngest of five children; Mary (deceased), Dom (deceased), Mildred and Pat.
She met the love of her life, Carmine Mastropolo, at her senior prom and married him a short time later. They were happily married for over 65 years.
She retired from the financial aid office at Rockland Community College; however her most important job was being a dedicated and loving mother to her five children; Rosalie (Thomas Newman), Salvatore (Rose), John (Tonnette), Carmine and Joanne (Tom Wagner, deceased) and grandmother to her eight grandchildren; Elizabeth, Salvatore, Michael, Rosemarie, Jack, Theresa, Peter and James , who adored her.
In her retirement Theresa enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, traveling, going to the casino, calling BINGO at the Valley Cottage Senior Club, and coaching the Yankees from her couch. She especially enjoyed spending time with her cherished friends, Angie & Charlie Pungello and Ruthe Bruno, her sisters-in-law, Anna La Duca & Anna Mastropolo, her brother Pat Pellicano and his wife Angie, and her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jack Vero.
Our “Mother Theresa’s” kindness and generosity made anyone who knew her feel welcomed and loved. She was a blessing to all those in her life and will be sorely missed. Her great faith, compassion, and understanding made her a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, and a role model to all those who want to make this world a better place.
