

Veronica (Ronnie) Ann Sullivan (née New) of Stony Point, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. She was 89 years old. She was born August 11th, 1935 in Manhattan, New York, daughter of the late James and Florence New. Ronnie is predeceased by her husband, James (Jim) Sullivan, and her sister Joan Klett. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, James (& Mary) New, Florence Landers, John (& Donna) New, Eileen (& Daniel) White, and Eugene (& Phyllis) New.
In 1956, she married James (Jim) Sullivan, and in 1960 they moved from the Bronx to New City where they later raised their 5 children. Ronnie was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine’s Parish in New City, and St. Gregory’s Parish in Garnerville. Ronnie enjoyed bowling at New City Lanes and crocheting in her spare time. She spent many happy days babysitting her grandchildren and attending their countless school and sporting events. Ronnie loved the ocean and the way the Jersey Shore brought her family together each summer.
Ronnie is survived by her daughter, Barbara, and her son-in-law, Eugene McConnell, of Garnerville, NY; her son, James (Jimmy), and daughter-in-law, Melissa, of Tequesta, FL; her son, Douglas, of Stony Point, NY; her son, Keith, and daughter-in-law, Kristen, of Suffern, NY; and her daughter, Laura, and son-in-law Jay Delaney of Old Forge, NY. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph.
Known as their beloved Nanny, Ronnie is survived by her 15 grandchildren: Kevin (& Stephanie) Sullivan, Greg (& Cara) Sullivan, Christopher (& Antoinette) Sullivan, Danny McConnell, Tommy (& Jen)McConnell, Patrick McConnell, Kaitlyn (& Marty) Morano, Joe Sullivan, Matt Sullivan, Taylor Sullivan, Kyle Sullivan, Kasey Sullivan, Julia (& Eoin) Halpin, Annie Delaney and Megan Delaney; and 5+ great grandchildren: Joey, Paris, Alena, Siena, Conor, and future Baby McConnell. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.
In her final days she was surrounded by her team of companions she lovingly called ‘her girls’: Ingrid, Gabby, and, recently, Debbie. These women made her final days comfortable and provided her with constant care and loving companionship. The family is so appreciative of having them in her life. Ronnie will be remembered for her beautiful smile, soft demeanor, kind and generous heart, and subtle wit by the family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends she leaves behind.
Family will receive friends on May 5th 3:00pm to 7:00pm. at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Congers 113 Lake Rd. A Memorial Mass will be held on May 6th at 10am at St. catherine's of Alexandria 523 Western Hwy S, Blauvelt, NY 10913.
