Ginny was born in Highbridge in the Bronx, NY on June 6, 1938 to the late Alice and Michael Greeley, also of Highbridge NY.
She earned her degree in nursing, and became an RN for Nyack Hospital. She chose to work as a Home Health Care Aide for the hospital instead. She preferred being by the bedside of her patients, to sit and talk and spend quality time with them in order to really care for them in their home as opposed to the fast paced environment of the busy hospital floors.
This care epitomizes who Ginny was at her core. She was known for always giving of herself and her time. Her gentle way about her made her an amazing friend and counselor to many. This was also evident as she spent her senior years fully dedicated to caring for her husband, Shelly. She selflessly cared for her ailing husband in their home for many years. She exemplified the meaning of love.
Ginny was not only dedicated to her patients & husband, she freely gave to anyone who needed her. She adored her grandchildren, sacrificed herself for the love of her family and was dedicated to caring for those who needed her. Especially her husband Shelly.
Virginia is survived by her husband Sheldon, and four children including daughter Cathie (Berkowitz) Frizalone and husband Pete, daughter Christine Marie Berkowitz, son Daniel Berkowitz, wife Tammie Figlinski, and son Jimmy Berkowitz, wife Carolyn. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Mike, Grace, Hayden, Dylan, Avery, and Brennan.
She joins her parents Alice and Michael Greeley, brother Don Greeley, sister in law Norma Greeley, cousin (sister) Patsy DiTullio, brother in law Phil Rogers, and niece Lori Rogers in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Extended family includes her in-laws, Barney Berkowitz (wife Dorothy) and Ethel Rodgers, nieces and nephews Steven Greeley, Bobby Greeley, Joan Greeley, Diane Greeley, Philip Rodgers, (wife Bari) Rodgers and Brian Berkowitz (wife Lynn), and Jodi Berkowitz. Grandnephews Zack and Jake Rogers and Jonathan Berkowitz (wife Shari).
Ginny spent 54 years living in Rockland County, NY and was married to her love Shelly for 60 years.
Ginny was a woman of strong Catholic faith. She served the Lord and became involved in his religious communities as a CCD Teacher at St. Ann’s Catholic Church (Nyack, NY), and was a faithful member of Saint Ann’s Church.
May Ginny be remembered with love by all as she is called to her next assignment in Heaven.
Ginny’s legacy will live on through all the lives that she’s touched and through her four children who loved her and still love her memory very much.
Ginny kindly requested that no one wear black to her wake or funeral, and that everyone be joyful while celebrating her amazing life! She asked this in Jesus name.
