William Francis McNulty

William F. McNulty, formerly from Washington Heights and Riverdale, died peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Nyack Nursing Home in Valley Cottage, N.Y. after a short illness. He was born on May 31, 1919 in Ardfanna, Ballyshannon, County Donegal in Ireland. He was one of 17 children of John and Margaret McNulty. William was pre deceased by his wife of 64 years, Mary McNulty. William is survived by his 3 children, Thomas and his wife Nora of Valley Cottage, N.Y., William and his wife Cathy of New Fairfield, Ct. and Marie Muranelli and her husband Joel of Ossining, New York, 7 grand children, Daniel (Christine), Matthew (Sarina), Meghan Saffi (Robert), Thomas (Christina), Joel, Sean and Timothy as well as 6 great grand children, Shaylee, Ryleigh, Jaxon, Joey, Danny and Kayleigh. William served in the United States Army during WW II. He was very proud of his service to his country. He was also an avid Yankee fan. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. Paul’s Church in Congers, New York at 10 AM. Interment to immediately follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne , N.Y. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 2-5 pm and from 7-9 pm at the Michael Higgins Funeral Home at 113 Lake Road, Congers, New York 10920. The family would especially like to thank both the Tappan Zee Manor and Nyack Nursing Home where he resided over the past 6 years. You took him in as part of your family and made him comfortable over that time.
