Obituary of Carolyn K. Hendrix
Carolyn K. Hendrix passed away peacefully at the age 85 on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Hickory Creek in Connersville, surrounded by loved ones who will honor her legacy by carrying forward her sense of resilience, humor, tenacity, and wit. Carolyn was born November 16, 1936 in Connersville. Her parents were Earl and Marjorie (Wedding) Stevens. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis in 1954 and went on to study Human Services at Indiana University. After receiving her associate degree, Carolyn began a career of compassionate service, first working as a counselor at the Dunn Center and later as a vocational counselor at Landmark Services, finding work placements for individuals with disabilities. She was a proud member of Hagerstown History Club and Cambridge City Library Club. Carolyn was an avid reader and accomplished seamstress. A fashion model in her youth, she maintained her sense of personal style and love of fashion throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed cooking, watching NCAA basketball (especially IU) and the Indianapolis Colts, and traveling abroad to experience the world. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed. Carolyn is survived by her children: son Ross Lipman of Tucson, AZ; daughter Jaime (Richie) Pflum of Milton; daughter Tracey Huffman (fiancé Darrell Powell) of Milton. Brother Robert (Terri) Stevens of Oregon and sister Juliann McClure of California. Grandchildren: Adrienne (Cale) Tressler; Lowell Huffman (fiancée Abigail Timme); Emily (Austin) Flanigan; Olivia (James) O’Connell; Alie Pflum; and Melody Brandenburg. Great grandchildren: Claire, Chloe, Stella, Will, Julia, Brig, and Amelia. Also several nieces. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Lot Hendrix; daughter Nancy Brandenburg; her parents; and father of her children, Ron Lipman. Per Carolyn’s request, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
