Obituary of Donna Jean Carlton
Donna Jean Carlton, 80, of Connersville, died Friday evening, July 13, 2018, at her residence surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. A Fayette County native, Donna was born near Glenwood August 23, 1937, to Everette and Mary Marcelline Bostic Hunter. She was married at Calvary Baptist Church on October 25, 1954 to Dallas W. “Rocky” Carlton who died November 6, 2001. She had earned her general education diploma and later worked at Fayette Memorial Hospital as a certified nursing assistant. For fourteen years, she was employed at the former Design and Manufacturing assembling dishwashers. Donna’s passion was her family and taking care of others. She was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness and enjoyed shopping and decorating her home. Along with her husband, she was recognized many times for her overwhelming support of our military troops. Donna is survived by her children and their spouses: Debra A. Ward and Robert of Fountain City; John E. Carlton and Carol E. of Richmond; Annette J. Meredith and Rob of Belleville, Illinois; Amy M. King and Ronald Brian of Connersville; her siblings and their spouses: Eugene Hunter and Shirley. Carolyn Bowling, Michael Hunter and Lois, Dale Hunter and Debbie, all of Connersville; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by her daughter: Melody Jean Brewer, who died September 14, 2010; her grandson: Christopher Geis; her great-granddaughter: Dakota Ward; two sisters: June Bowling and Bonita Steele; and her brother: Jack Hunter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
