Elmer W. "Dusty" Lucas

Elmer W. “Dusty” Lucas, 86, died late Monday afternoon, July 7, 2014 at his residence.
A Connersville native, Dusty was born on December 1, 1927, to Bennie and Helen Sturgis Lucas and attended Connersville area schools. In 1946, he joined the United States Navy and survived the Korean Conflict where he served as Fireman Second Class. Dusty was an affiliate of the local VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, Elks Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge. In his leisure time, Dusty enjoyed bowling, fishing, listening to old country music and hanging out with his friends.
Dusty is survived by his daughter: Jane Bentley and her husband, Bruce of Connersville; grandchildren: Lisa Sizemore and her husband, David of Bristol, Virginia; Bryan H. Lucas and his companion, Kelly Cologne of Connersville; Sherry Robinson and her husband, Scott of Blooming Grove; Bruce A. Bentley of Connersville; sisters: Mary Baney; Beverly Payton, both of Connersville; Shirley Hendrickson of Lynn; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Lucas of Connersville; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dusty is preceded in death by his first wife of thirty three years: Margery A. Lucas; his second wife of ten years: Carolyn Faye Puckett Lucas; his companion: Vicki Campbell; his son: Howard L. Lucas; his brothers: Ralph Lucas and Lee Watson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Tim Bentley officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 until the time of service Friday where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
