Obituary of James Lowman
James L. Lowman, 78, of Connersville, died Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Reid Health in Richmond after becoming ill at home. A Connersville native, James was born July 31, 1940 to Frederick D. and Elizabeth M. Kruse Lowman. In 1958, he graduated from Harrisburg High School and was inducted in to the U.S. Navy in June of that year. He served in the rank of Aerographers Mate Second Class aboard the USS Coarl Sea. James had been employed at Design and Manufacturing for 34 years and later worked at KS Bearings in Greensburg for seven years. He was a member of the Living Waters Assembly of God, a lifetime member of the AMVETS and former member of the Moose Lodge. Jim lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed Connersville High School, Indiana University, Butler University and the Indiana Pacers basketball games. He had been a member of the D & M Bowling League and was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. James is survived by his wife, the former Claudia J. Hathaway whom he married May 1, 1982 at the First Baptist Church in Connersville; his sons: Gregg Lowman, Brad Lowman and his wife, Vicki, all of Connersville; his sisters: Barbara Dobbs of Bowling Green, Ohio and Janet Mains of Connersville; three grandchildren, a step-grandchild, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter: Rhonda J. Lowman, who died April 5, 2002; and a brother: William Lowman.
