Jimmy L. Jinks

Connersville native, Jimmy L. Jinks, 69, died early Saturday morning, January 19, 2019, at Reid Health in Richmond.
Jimmy was born April 4, 1949, to Donald L. and Naomi Fowler Jinks. In 1968, he graduated from Connersville High School and enlisted in the U.S .Marine Corps in May of that year. Jimmy attained the rank of Lance Corporal while attached to the Marine Wing Support group stationed in El Toro, California. In recognition of his tour of duty in Vietnam, he was awarded the Combat Action ribbon and the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with palm for his deeds of valor during combat. Jimmy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, American Legion and had attended Calvary Baptist Church. He had been employed as a truck driver with Owens Meyer in Indianapolis. Jimmy enjoyed watching sports in his leisure time.
Jimmy is survived by his brother: Mike Jinks and his wife, Diane of Connersville; his sons and their wives: Ryan Jinks and April of Speedway, Brian Jinks and Marla of Arizona; seven grandchildren; aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father and mother, Naomi Cornett.
Memorial services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday February 2, 2019, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville following cremation. Friends may visit at the funeral from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council.
