John D. Murphy Jr.

John was born May 4, 1941, in Connersville to John David Murphy Sr. and Virginia Hyatt Murphy. He owned and operated Murphy Gas Company for sixty-two years, providing propane gas for over 12,000 homes. John was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (James) Pentecost of Connersville; granddaughter, Sophie Pentecost of Connersville; step-daughter, Billie (Scott) St. John of Manillia, Indiana; step-grandsons, Cody (Courtney) Hill of Liberty and Dustin Hill of Connersville; nephew, Randy (Judy) Smith of Connersville and niece Tammy (John) Schaefer of Jupiter Florida and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cathy Murphy and sister, Judy Calhoun.

A Committal service for John David Murphy Jr., will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Union Cemetery Garden of Memories, (North County Road 450E Connersville, Indiana 47331) with Father Dustin Boehm officiating.
