Obituary of Katie Bailey
Katie Bailey, 33, died Wednesday morning, September 19, 2012, at her mother's residence in Connersville, Indiana. Katie was born October 29, 1978 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Barbara E. McConnell. Barbara married Vincent P. Roush in February of 1979 and Vincent adopted Katie on Valentine's Day of 1980. In 1997, Katie graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford, Michigan. She continued her education earning a two year degree in Child Care. Katie’s first job was at McDonald’s at the age of 16. In her brief time on this earth she held various forms of employment that included a children's day care, a preschool and she also watched other children while raising her own two daughters. Katie loved animals especially cats and dogs. Whenever she could Katie would have one or more as pets. Katie enjoyed helping others and spending time with her family and friends. She possessed an easy-going personality although she could be fiercly supportive to those she loved. Katie married Steven J. Bailey, the father of her two daughters and although they divorced she continued being his friend and also become friends with his wife, Amanda, when he remarried. She had been for several years and still was in a relationship with Cody Dark when she became ill. Cody, Katie loved you very much and continues to love you. She prayed that you would call upon Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Katie is survived by her mother, with whom she had resided; her father of Liberty; her children: Elana Nicole Bailey and Brianna Riley Bailey, both of Lawrence, Michigan; her sister: Jessica Kay Chitumalla and her husband, Venkat Vikram of Ocala, Florida; her maternal grandmother: Tinnie McConnell of Watervliet, Michigan, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends Katie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Allen James McConnell; three aunts and an uncle. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at New Life Christian Center, 6674 PawPaw Avenue, Coloma, Michigan with Pastor Larry Nail officiating.
