Obituary of Markus M. Wesaw Sr.
Markus M. Wesaw, Sr., 55, of Connersville, died Monday morning, February 11, 2019, at his residence. Markus was born in Thermopolis, Wyoming, October 16, 1963, to Tom Tom and Gaylene Isaac Wesaw. He graduated from high school in Wyoming before completing his bachelor degree in criminal justice from Kaplan University. Markus was a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and practiced the Native American religion. On January 1, 1981, he married the former Brenda Elaine Sherwood in Riverton, Wyoming. Markus had been employed as a child protection investigator with the Arapahoe tribe. He loved to attend powwows and was an outdoorsman that liked to fish, trap, hunt, and collect guns. Markus enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his Native American culture with them. He spent his leisure time bowling and accumulating NASCAR collectibles, especially anything to do with Dale Earnhardt. Markus is survived by his wife of 38 years; his sons and their spouses: Markus Wesaw, Jr. and Melissa of Fort Washakie, Wyoming; Philip Wesaw of Connersville; Jerod Wesaw and Samantha of Casper, Wyoming; his brother: Timothy Wesaw and his wife, Kelli of Denver, Colorado; his sister: Denise McBride of Juna, Idaho; his grandchildren: Dominic, Markus III, William, Kevin, Vincent and Riley Wesaw; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Markus is preceded into death by his brother: Kevin and his sister: Amy Jo. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with his brother-in-law, Eric Sherwood officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
