Edward William Curtis was born to Frederick James and Arletta (Horn) Curtis on April 23, 1936 in Lyons, New York.
Ed was proceeded in death by his father, Frederick James Curtis and his mother, Arletta (Horn) Curtis. He is survived by his wife Janet Vivian (Springer) Curtis and her three sons, James Springer, Christopher Springer and Andrew Springer, his daughter Kelly Carter and his sister Thelma Jones as well as his grandchildren.
Ed’s true calling was that of a United States Marine. He loved his beloved Corps. Edward William Curtis retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 28 years of faithful service.
Ed was a Life Member of the Dickinson VFW Post 6378 and has been a member in good standing with the Eastex Detachment 779 Marine Corps League for many years.
In his senior years, Ed and Janet where faithful church members attending Montgomery United Methodist Church and had recently begun attending services at First Methodist Conroe. Ed loved going to his favorite local restaurants, Giovanni’s, Salt Grass and Olive Garden. Ed and Janet often frequented these restaurants with their good friends Ray and Martha Ready along with James and Tracy Andrews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Metcalf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at Metcalf Funeral Home. Honors will be rendered during services by the Eastex Detachment 779 Marine Corps League and the Conroe VFW Post 4709.
Ed requested that everyone celebrate his passing as his tour of duty is complete here on earth and that the only tears to be shed should be those of joy as he is excited to see his new Duty Station guarding the Streets of Heaven.

Ed’s final place of rest will be alongside other National Hero’s at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Virginia.
